GoAbroad-UAC International Programs Universidad Aconcagua
GoAbroad-UAC is a Joint Initiative developed in conjunction with Universidad de Aconcagua (UAC) together with GoAbroad-Chile. GoAbroad-UAC is responsible for supporting the negotiation, facilitation, and coordination of institutional relationships with international partners. Our focus is to foster initiatives in the Marga Marga County, our country, as well as strengthen the global reach through International Study Abroad Programs.
Who we are
Ana María Cabello
Head of GoAbroad-UAC International Programs
As Head of GoAbroad-UAC International Programs Ana María oversees all the organizational relationships providing onsite support with the academic planning and strategic initiatives. Ana María has extensive experience in international education as study abroad program administrator, professor of Spanish as a Foreign Language, and assisting international students from all over the world. Ana María is a native Chilean born in Valparaíso. She studied English Language and Education at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, holds a Diploma in International Relations and another in Business Management.
Her previous experience as an International Educator was as an ISEP Coordinator (International Student Exchange Programs) and SEPP-Chile Coordinator (Spoken English Promotion Project – SEPP), an exchange program between Chinese and Chilean students developed by Zhejiang Gongshang University (ZIJSU). Ana María and her team presented at NAFSA Conference with a Poster Group titled “Internationalizing the Curriculum and Campus: Chilean Students teaching English in China”, in Los Angeles Convention Center in 2009 (NAFSA 2009 Conference and Expo). Ana María is the Executive Secretary of the non-profit special education/organization called Pro Inclusión Rayos de Sol intended for young and adults with autism, mental retard, Down syndrome, among other pathologies.
Ana María is a NAFSA Member since 2000.
Director of Study Abroad
Viviana is a Teacher of English as a Second Language. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature with an emphasis in Education from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Viviana has a career of more than 10 years as Counselor and Director of English curricula in a conglomerate of K-12 schools located in Santiago (Chile´s Capital), Quilpué (5th Region of Valparaíso, central Chile) and Pucon (10th Región, southern part of Chile). Viviana holds a Diploma as Mentor given by The Ministry of Education of Chile, being part of a selective group of about 50 members within the country.
Viviana has extensive experiencie in teaching Spanish to students of many different nationalities who have decided to participate in Study Abroad Programs in Chile.
As Director of Study Abroad, Viviana supports the Head of GoAbroad-UAC International Programs in implementing international cooperation strategies with universities, think tanks, companies and other partners in Chile and worldwide. She acts as key contact point and coordinator for providing opportunities for UAC students and professionals to study abroad and supports incoming international students studying at UAC. This also includes advising UAC students about Study Abroad opportunities and advising incoming international students. Viviana works closely with the Housing Coordinator to ensure the timely and effective processing of incoming study abroad applications and placements.
Regional Director – Europe and Asia
Luis Lizama, former Vicepresident of International Relations at Universidad de Aconcagua, is a psychologist, PhD © in Education and Psychology at Complutense University of Madrid, and holds a Master’s degree in Human Migration at Comillas University of Madrid. He is considered an expert in educational uses of ICT and eLearning. Luis also taught Master’s courses in the Post-graduate University Institute (http://www.iup.es) founded by Barcelona University. He has authored an abundance of books and publications about education, emotional intelligence, and technology.
Dr. Lizama has experience working on European projects during the last 10 years from programs in: Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, UK, Portugal, Finland, Belgium, Holland, Turkey, Ireland, Cyprus, and also in Latin America: Costa Rica, and Chile. Luis is the Creator and project manager of Yourvid Save Energy a Comenius Multilateral project in the field of Sustainable Energy and Digital video (www.yesenergy.eu). Finally, he is the Chile WOW Project Coordinator, a transnational project carried out by partners from Italy, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and Chile with the financial support of the European Commission in the frames of Erasmus+ (EU’s Program for education, training, youth and sport), KA2 – Capacity Building in the field of youth. The aim of the WOW Project is to support the youth workers to develop youngster’s skills and competences for employability.
María Soledad Díaz
Service Program Coordinator
Maria Soledad lived two years in Canada when she was a student and learned English at Fraser Valley College in Chilliwack, BC, Canada. She has a wide experience working in Business Administration for several companies as well as an English tutor with two international certifications to teach English as a Second Language. She studied Hotel Management at INACAP University in Viña del Mar and holds two Diplomas; one in Business, Finances and Management, and another one in Public Relations. María Soledad is in charge of assisting international students interested in making an impact through Volunteerism, Community Service, Internship, Field Education, and Service Learning Programs.
Violeta was a pioneer as a Housing Coordinator matching students and families in the fifth region, long before study abroad began to flourish. She began in the year 1995 and has provided accommodation to countless university students who have chosen Valparaiso to study and experience living with a Chilean family. Her extensive experience also includes assisting visiting professors in finding suitable long and short term accommodations.
Marcia Vera Vasallo
International Consultant – United States
Marcia holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature with an emphasis in Education from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and a Master of Arts in Social Science with an emphasis in Gender and Cultural Studies from Universidad de Chile.
As an International consultant at Go Abroad-Chile, Marcia provides academic and administrative support to develop programs and curriculum. Currently, she is one of the faculty members as a Secondary High School Teacher in Tucson, Arizona. Before her role as a certified teacher, she worked at CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) in Valparaiso as a Resident Director. In addition, she also taught international students Spanish conversation and Chilean culture at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso.
